With the massive success of HBO’s series adaptation of “The Last of Us” video games, it’s no surprise season 2 will be getting some top-notch additions to the cast. Danny Ramirez (“Top Gun: Maverick”), Ariela Barer (“How To Blow Up a Pipeline”), Tati Gabrielle (“You”), and Spencer Lord (“Riverdale”) will all be joining the show.

“The Last of Us” series is set 20 years after the start of a pandemic caused by a fungal infection. This infection causes those afflicted to become zombie-like creatures, leading to the fall of modern civilization. The story follows Joel (Pedro Pascal) a hardened survivor who is hired to smuggle teenaged Ellie (Bella Ramsey), out of a quarantine zone. What could have been a small mission soon turns into a brutal journey across the post-apocalyptic US. Where Ellie and Joel must learn to rely on one another to survive.

Additions to “The Last of Us” Cast

In season 2, Ramirez will play Manny, a loyal soldier who uses a sunny outlook to mask old wounds. Not to mention the constant fear that he will fail his friends when they need him most. Barer is cast as Mel, a young doctor whose commitment to saving lives is waylaid by a new world of war and tribalism. Gabrielle will portray Nora, a military medic struggling to come to terms with past sins. Lord will play Owen, who has the body of a warrior but a gentle soul. A disposition that has condemned him to a life of fighting enemies he refuses to hate.

“The Last Of Us” Season 2 is written and executive produced by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann.  Other executive producers include Carolyn Strauss, Jacqueline Lesko, Cecil O’Connor, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, and Evan Wells. The show is done in partnership with Sony Pictures Television, PlayStation Productions, Word Games, The Mighty Mint, and Naughty Dog (who made the video games).

We’ll keep you posted on updates about “The Last of Us” as they become available. The first season is currently streaming on MAX.
