Target’s Lewis O Lantern Halloween Decoration Goes Viral

Target nailed their Halloween decor this year, especially their newest addition, Lewis O Lantern. This 8-foot tall light-up Halloween decoration has the face of a jack-o’-lantern and sports a hooded, tattered robe. This imposing figure also spouts several prerecorded catchphrases, one of which has made it go viral on TikTok.

“I am not a jack-o’-lantern,” he firmly states. “My name is Lewis.” Before menical laughter ensues.

Now, users of the video-sharing app are filming trips to Target to not only find this hodded figure but to hear about his identity crisis. He may just be this spooky season’s 12-foot-tall Home Depot skeleton.

Lewis’ other phrases include “I fear nothing night or day, except a strong breeze to make me sway,” and  “I’m so happy you could carve out some time to come out tonight.” Because we all love a good pun.

Given all the hype, Target has given us a few details about our newfound Halloween icon. “Lewis is new this year, and — like all of our Hyde & EEK! Boutique items — was created by Target’s internal product design team,” a representative for Target wrote in an email shared with Nexstar.

But they remain tight-lipped about any lore surrounding Lewis or how his phrases developed. We mean, he is shaped like a jack-o’-lantern, is there a reason he rejects that corporeal form? [Yes, we get the joke, it’s just funnier to act like we don’t.]

The buzz around Lewis is so big that he already sold out on the company’s website, despite the $180 price tag. Along with reviews of people offering their lives to apease their newfound plastic deity. However, some shopper may still luck out and find him in stores.

Target has also not commented on whether he will be restocked in time for Halloween or not. We hope all our readers who quest for Lewis O Lantern find him. But the real Lewis may just be all the friends we made along the way.
