Pete Davidson to Host “Saturday Night Live” Season 49 Premiere

It seems so long ago since the writer’s strike happened and eventually ended. When it started back in May of 2023, some shows had not concluded their current season. “Saturday Night Live“ was one of those shows. Before season 48 wrapped prematurely, former cast member Pete Davidson was all set to host an episode. Well, that fell apart fast, but now that the strike is over, Pete’s finally getting his chance to host later this month.

    NBC “Saturday Night Live’

“SNL” went through a huge transition going into season 48. There was a grand exodus of cast members that were considered staples of the show for the last decade. Cecily Strong, Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant, and Davidson are only some of the departures that took place. Bringing in some extra star power in terms of cameos and hosts was a boon to the season, and Davidson’s return as a host was likely going to be part of that.

Bad Bunny, “Bullet Train” Sony Pictures

At least he gets to kick of season 49 in style though when he hosts the premiere on October 14th. The musical guest for the episode will be rapper Ice Spice, recently featured on the “Barbie“ soundtrack. We also know the following show on the 21st will feature Bad Bunny doing double duty as host and musical guest. It will also mark his first appearance on the program.

    Saturday Night Live – NBC/Universal

“Saturday Night Live” is still very much in transition mode as it attempts to reestablish itself. One of the more memorable sketches was actually one of the pre-recorded bits where Pedro Pascal appeared in a fake trailer for the “Mario Kart” movie we didn’t know we needed. But credit where credit is due, that’s thanks largely to the amazing team of CGI artists they seem to have over there, in addition to Pascal just being pretty amazing in anything he does.

Here’s hoping that “Saturday Night Live” gets off to a good start when it premiers on the 14th of this month with Davidson at the helm!
