Hey everybody have you heard the news? Joe Bob is back in town! Genre-focused streaming service Shudder has officially renewed “The Last Drive-In With Joe Bob Briggs” for a sixth season. Film critic Joe Bob Briggs (John Bloom) will be returning with co-host/genre expert, Darcy The Mail Girl (Diana Prince) for what will be the biggest season yet.

“As everyone knows, you should never invite me into your home, because I always show up,” Briggs joked. “Shudder has graciously invited me to stick around for a sixth year, and I intend to use that kindness to haunt your phones, laptops and big-screen TVs with the most ghastly examples of perversity in the history of cinema. Plus a few old jokes and some celebrity guests who will still return our phone calls. Put it all together and it spells PARTAY.”

While the season technically kicked off on September 15th with a special launch of “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon.” Where the hosts were joined by director, executive producer, and overall key franchise creative Greg Nicotero. But, as is the show’s custom, the new season wasn’t confirmed until now.

Season six of “The Last Drive-In” will have Briggs and Darcy hosting more than 30 crazy movies, setting a new record for the series. It’s going to be legendary, and (possibly) very scary, so come on down. Like previous seasons, the titles for each double feature episode won’t be revealed beforehand. So, we can assume Darcy’s X (formally Twitter) page will be ripe with clues and fans guessing each week.

“The Last Drive-In” will also once again be swapping filming locations. Originally episodes were taped in Brigg’s home state of Texas, before moving to New Jersey during the pandemic. The upcoming season will be filmed in Senoia, Georgia in the same studios as “The Walking Dead” series. This change in location will give the series access to a backlot for the first time.

The show will return with two Halloween-themed specials in October, a holiday special in December, and a Valentine’s Day special in February.  “The Last Drive-In” will then transition into a new series format in March 2024. So if you’re a mutant who believes in blood, and breasts, and beasts, you may want to check it out.
