Batwoman is Getting Famous GOT Writer to Helm Pilot Episode

You can always tell how serious a company is about a new show by who they hire to work on it. The CW has hired well known “Pilot Whisperer” David Nutter to take lead in the production of the pilot for Batwoman.

David Nutter who is known in the DCEU for his pilots on The Flash and Green Arrow, has also worked on shows such as Supernatural, Without A Trace, The Mentalist, and Smallville. He is also responsible for some of the most epic Game of Thrones episodes to date, for example the “Red Wedding” episode The Rains of Castamere that everyone lost their mind about. The last season of Game of Thrones will have more written by him coming up this year.

The CW was able to get him to come in for the Batwoman Pilot which gives me tremendous hope that this will be a long lasting series. If it does half as well as The Flash or Arrow I will be extremely happy.

The new show stars Ruby Rose of Orange is the New Black and has been getting a lot of buzz about how this will be the first actual LGBT Superhero show.. like ever. Set to pave the way for others, hopefully many others to come into view. I mean after all Ruby Rose is everyone’s Lesbian and Hetero crush right now, so who better to play the part of a bridge across the taboo.

The synopsis for the pilot is as follows:
“Armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, Kate Kane (star Ruby Rose) soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence. But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.”

Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Geoff Johns are executive producers and Caroline Dries will serve as showrunner. Caroline Dries has also most famously worked on Vampire Diaries and Melrose Place.

Batwoman will be up for consideration for a series order next season. I really really hope this one makes it through. With Nutter in charge of the pilot, it’s hard to imagine it wouldn’t get ordered.

What do you think? Are you excited for an actual LGBT Superhero show? Tell us in the comments!
