5 Tips for Raising Kindergarteners with Love and Care

If you have a kindergartener tutting around at home, it’s nothing short of a rollercoaster ride!

In this stage, children start to learn about the environment around them, as well as how to form interpersonal relationships.

In the US, a study was conducted on kindergarteners’ learning behaviors, like being organized, following rules, and so on. It was seen that most kindergarten students received a score of 3 (often) when it came to learning in a positive environment in school.

So if you wish to know how to raise your kindergartner with the right amount of love and care and build outstanding skills, here are some tips!

    1. Encourage them to read

This is one of the most important tips that any parent or teacher should be aware of. Your kindergarten child will start to get familiar with the alphabet, words, and even sentences later, so you should cultivate the habit of reading with them.

When read, it not only enhances your child’s thinking abilities but also improves mental and emotional health. Your kid will learn to activate their imagination power and determine how words are used.

It’s natural if your child doesn’t show promising results initially. In fact, it’s pretty normal for them to keep forgetting or messing up with the order of the alphabet or numbers. But don’t let that discourage them from trying.

    2. Ask them how their school went

Every time your child comes back from school, make it a point to ask them how their day was. Spend at least 30 minutes with them after you return home from work and take a genuine interest in their studies.

Even if most of what they say sounds like senseless babbling to you, encourage them to communicate and be open. This will also help you foster a healthy relationship between parents and their little ones.

The more your child opens up, the more you’ll understand how far along they are in their curriculum.

For example, if your child keeps saying they can’t catch up with the daily lessons, you’ll know it’s probably time to look up tutors for kindergarten kids.

    3. Teach them how to listen

Just like it’s important for your children to speak and communicate with others, it’s equally important for them to listen.

Usually, kindergarten children are impatient and often don’t like to listen to others. However, if this condition is left unattended, your child can demonstrate similar habits in the future and not be able to empathize with others.

Moreover, television and computer games have further deteriorated children’s attention spans.

So it’s up to you to ensure that your children listen to others and respect whatever the other person says. One smart tip is to read aloud to them and then ask them to repeat what you said.

    4. Be a strong role model

It comes as no surprise that parents are a child’s biggest role model. No matter how many values you try to instill in your little ones, if they see you doing the opposite of what you preach, they’ll learn the same.

Pay close attention to your behavior during difficult events. Make sure, to be honest, empathetic, kind, and virtuous then.

For example, if you and your partner disagree, show your kids that you can resolve conflicts respectfully without being physically or verbally abusive.

A kindergartener who sees love and harmony in their household will practice whatever they see right from childhood. Try to improve yourself every day to earn your child’s respect and trust.

    5. Support the kindergarten rules

Even if you don’t support a few rules here and there, it’s always better to abide by most of them.

Imagine your child constantly hearing from you that attending classes is a waste of time or that the lessons they’re being taught are useless.

Your kid will doubt the school and ultimately form a poor impression of it. They won’t be able to give their 100% to everything and lag in all activities. So, you must always be respectful of the school rules and authority to prevent such situations.

However, if you truly feel that one aspect of kindergarten is going strongly against your personal ethics, you can always schedule a meeting with the teachers and find out what’s wrong.

    Over to you…

Kindergarten is the phase where your child will start to see the world more objectively and understand people. Therefore, bringing them up in a safe and secure environment is important to raise them right.

So, don’t hesitate to help them get the best of everything with all the support you can provide!
