LEGO has just announced a brand new EPIC The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell set. This set is based on the award-winning film adaptations by Sir Peter Jackson of the beloved J.R.R. Tolkien novels. This highly detailed set consists of a staggering 6,167 pieces. Once assembled, they transform into the iconic Elven stronghold from Middle-earth.

Because it is home to the house of Elrond, Rivendell is a key location. During the Council of Elrond, The Fellowship is formed, and the quest to destroy the ring begins. It even comes complete with 15 LEGO minifigures, so you can reenact all your favorite scenes! These minifigures include:

    • Gandalf the Grey
    • Frodo Baggins
    • Samwise Gamgee
    • Merriadoc “Merry” Brandybuck
    • Peregrin “Pippin” Took
    • Legolas
    • Gimli
    • Boromir
    • Aragorn
    • Elrond
    • Arwen
    • Bilbo Baggins
    • A dwarf (Gloin)
    • Additional elves

In true LEGO fashion, The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell set will have plenty of easter eggs. The set can also be built in three sections. In section one there is the Council Ring, including the plinth where the ring is first revealed. Frodo’s Bedroom, where the young hobbit recovers following his rescue by Arwen from the hands of the Nazgûl. And Elrond’s study, that houses famous paintings of the history of Middle-earth

Section two consists of an elven tower that features five Elven statues of unnamed famous warriors from the past. The third section is the gazebo, river, and bridge so you can recreate the Fellowship’s departure from Rivendell.

“We know many of our fans have been anticipating a set like this for a long-time – but a great LEGO The Lord of the Rings set is never late, it arrives precisely when it means to,” LEGO Design Master Mike Psaiki said. “It was important to us that we created something really special in this recreation of Rivendell. We aimed to add as much detail as possible and create an engaging experience throughout the build to delight fans recreating scenes or proudly displaying Elrond’s home. We are really pleased with the final design and how we have brought Rivendell to life in brick form.”

The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell set will set you back $499.99. It is available exclusively for LEGO VIP members, March 5th-7th, and comes with a free Frodo and Golum LEGO Brickheadz set (40630).

It will be available online and at LEGO Retail stores starting March 8th.
