Actor Gabriel Luna is certainly having a moment right now. He has already starred as superhero Ghost Rider on the “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” tv series, as well as playing an advanced killing machine in “Terminator: Dark Fate.” Now he can be seen as Tommy on HBO’s smash hit “The Last of Us,” based on the popular video game. But being a part of all these landmark franchises isn’t enough, apparently. Luna has his eyes on one of the biggest franchises of all, “Star Wars.”

Luna recently revealed he wants in so badly, he even write a letter to Lucasfilm executive producer Dave Filoni to make him aware of his desires.“I wrote a letter to Dave … a while back, and it’s a dream of mine,” Luna said. “I mean, there’s all kinds of possibilities there. I’m just wishful thinking and hoping. I will always prepare as if I have the job. If that day should ever come, I’ll be ready.”

He even has a specific character in mind, Ezra Bridger, a Jedi Padawan in the animated series “Star Wars Rebels.” “This was me throwing my hat in for a certain Ezra Bridger,” he said. “This was years ago, not ever knowing if they would ever do anything with Ezra. He’s probably my, besides Luke, favorite character. Well, actually, I’m sorry, R2, Luke, Ezra Bridger.”
Good News, Bad News
Ezra will be part of the upcoming live-action Disney+ series “Ahsoka” starring Rosario Dawson. Unfortunately for Luna, Eman Esfandi (“King Richard”) has already been cast in the role.
Undeterred, Luna already has another character in mind. “I’m a big fan of the new High Republic stuff,” he continued. “There’s another great character there that I think I might be angling towards.” And that is Elzar Mann, a Jedi Master in the “Star Wars: The High Republic” comic book series. This comment caught the attention of “High Republic” author Charles Soule, who voiced support for Luna as Elzer.
