Apparently, Jonathan Davis’ dog clothing line Freak on a Leash wasn’t keeping him busy enough. Davis, James “Munky“ Shaffer, Brian “Head“ Welch, and Ray Luzier of pioneer NuMetal band Korn have collaborated with Heatonist on a new hot sauce, Here to Slay, a play on their hit song, “Here to Stay.”

According to Heatonist, the band reached out to them about creating the condiment. Both brands wanted to pay homage to the Korn’s roots in Bakersfield, California. They did so by focusing on the many different flavors of the abundant produce that grows in the Central Valley.

Here to Slay is described as having the charred-sweet flavor of roasted corn paired with the vibrant taste of jalapeño and serrano peppers. This sauce is also flavored with smoky chipotles in adobo and cumin that add earthy notes to the blend. Those notes are intended to mirror “the vistas and canyons outside the city.” Heatonist suggests putting Here to Slay on tacos, grilled shrimp, burgers, and burritos. Heatonist rates its heat at 2.5 out of 10 so it should be mild enough to be fairly versatile.

But we’re sure fans will find plenty of other foods it pairs well with.

For those concerned about allergies, the listed ingredients are onion, corn, distilled vinegar, jalapeno, pineapple, serrano pepper, chipotles in adobo (chipotle peppers, water, tomato puree, vinegar, salt, sugar, garlic, canola oil), garlic, lime juice, canola oil, cilantro, sea salt, and cumin. Yes, after all of these decades of swearing up and down the name Korn has nothing to do with the food, they make a hot sauce with corn in it. But to be fair we’re sure fans were also expecting it.

You can get your 6oz bottle of Here to Slay on Heatonist’s website for $12. They also have a convenient 2-pack for $24. We are both excited and concerned about what venture Davis and crew may take on next.
