Elon Musk’s Boring Company Releases Burnt Hair Perfume

In pretty typical eccentric billionaire fashion, Elon Musk wants a hand in every pie. His newest entrepreneurial endeavor has taken him to the perfume market. The Boring Company has released a new signature scent, and it’s pretty terrible. Burnt Hair sold 10,000 bottles in six hours the day of its release. At $100 a bottle, it’s not the priciest fragrance out there. Decently affordable to smell like hair on fire.

October 12th saw the sale of another 10,000 bottles, reaching an easy $2 million. It’s not the first time Musk’s Boring Company has created tongue-in-cheek merchandise. Remember the “not a flamethrower?” Yeah. We remember. These items get gobbled up by the consumer market for their sarcastic existence.

The price tag makes the perfume attractive. Most of the best fragrances don’t fall below $500, so a low price has consumers riding the high of briefly aligning themselves with a billionaire. Musk claims the perfume market was an obvious direction to take. “With a name like mine, getting into the fragrance business was inevitable – why did I even fight it for so long!?”

In reality, one of the richest men in the world doesn’t need more money. “Please buy my perfume, so I can buy Twitter,” Musk posted, as though he’s desperate for the funds. He even changed his twitter handle to perfume salesman. We had kinda hoped pending lawsuits for terminating his contract to purchase the social media platform were enough to raise a botoxed brow and cow the billionaire’s arrogance, pushing him to move forward with the contracts.

Though, honestly, we have a much bigger question. With a name like his, why not call it Elon’s Musk?

The Burnt Hair perfume is available for purchase here.
