DROP’s “LoTR” Keyboards Great For Writing, Online Gaming

If you’ve ever had a keyboard you’ve loved, odds are it’s not just the basic one that came with the PC bundle. You probably spent a bit of money because you knew that the quality would be worth it. DROP has partnered with “The Lord of the Rings” for some really cool keyboards featuring two languages from JRR Tolkien‘s classic tale. One features the Dwarvish alphabet, and the other has Elvish!

I was lucky enough to have an Elvish one sent to me for review. A friend of the site received the Dwarvish one. To make sure that I put everything I had into this review I tried it out for a couple of weeks before making any decisions. I’m the type of person that gets really stuck in their comfort zone, so changing out keyboards is not easy.

    How it Held Up

The keyboard is weighty and doesn’t slide around when you’re using it. It has feet on the top to make it sit at an angle that’s just perfect for typing on. The clacking sound of the keyboard is familiar and comfortable. The keys sound heavy and are pleasant to the fingertips. It’s also made of a material that doesn’t feel greasy after a while. And it’s easy to pop off keys and reinsert them for cleaning.

The keyboard came with alternate options for some of the keys, including the spacebar that can be replaced with the one ring’s writing. Other keys that I enjoy because to me they’re funny are the enter key and the escape key. The escape key is the Eye of Sauron which yeah, don’t let that get you! Escape that eye! The enter key is a broken sword, so when you want to create a line break, you hit the broken sword.

Each of the keys while the more prominent letter is the one in the language you choose like Elvish also has a tiny roman letter on it. That way should you forget finger placement you can correct yourself. The keys for Del, End, PgDn, all have the English writing on the front of the key instead of on top. This view makes it easy to see what you need to press. And the F keys are the same way, made to view them more easily.

    DROP

The size of the keyboard is also perfect. The spacing and the width of the overall keyboard made my desk feel so much bigger. All without inhibiting my typing.

The one thing that I was worried about was if I could hang without a built in 10-key. I do a lot of invoicing and wanted to make sure I could still type my numbers quickly enough. With practice, I’ve gotten it down to fairly quickly. Not as fast as with the 10-key but I’ll get there. There is a separate 10-key that you can purchase but I think that the base of the keyboard works just fine on its own.

I disliked nothing! This is one of the keyboards I’ve owned that I actually never cursed at. There have been no finger slips, accidental slides or whoopsies had as long as I’ve been using it. I fully recommend this keyboard to anyone who wants a good quality keyboard for writing or gaming. Especially if you use hot keys in games like “World of Warcraft” for your spells. I would say that the timing on these keys are actually really good if you want to cast spells in a particular order. DPSing is hard if you don’t have a good keyboard and input lag is never fun. I can genuinely say that you won’t have to worry about that with this keyboard, which is great because my arcane mage does higher DPS(Damage per second) that way.

You can pick up your own “Lord of the Rings” keyboard from DROP here. While you’re there, make sure you check out some of the cool accessories they offer in addition to the keyboards.

Season 1 of Amazon Prime Video’s “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” is streaming now.
