Walton Goggins Teases Fans with “Fallout” TV Series Selfie

Around this same time last year, the co-creators of “Westworld” announced they were developing a “Fallout” series for Amazon, based on the popular dystopian video game franchise. And we learned earlier this year that “Justified” actor Walton Goggins would be starring as the lead.

Goggins is teasing fans with selfies from set. Behind him is a trailer, on which is a piece of paper with “Ghoul” written on it. It’s giving us very little to go on and a lot to be curious about. Shooting for the series started July 18th according to Amazon Prime Video.

    What are your secrets, Walton??

There’s little else that can be gleaned from Goggins’ post but speculation. As the lead for the series, is it possible the hero for this adaptation will center around a ghoul and his journey through the wasteland? Or is that even Goggins‘ trailer? Color us curious! There are a large number of popular ghoul characters from the video game franchise that fans would love to see onscreen, especially as the lead character.

Ghouls are people that are affected by nuclear radiation in the “Fallout” universe. Looking similar to a burn victim and lacking a nose and ears, ghouls have the benefit of immortality and a resistance to radiation, continuing their lives as best they can in the wasteland. Some do lose the battle with radiation, and become feral, losing all sense of reason. Something we’re more than likely to see in the Amazon series, as they litter the horizon throughout the games.

No official release date has been set for the series, but sometime in 2024 is likely. So, we’ll patiently wait with cautious optimism. Until then, we’ll keep our plasma rifles close and crank the 40s tunes. Maybe ask our Mr. Handy bot to make us a drink.

Bethesda’s “Fallout” games are available for purchase on PC and multiple consoles.
