Amazon Prime to Host James Bond Competition Series

Anyone who was wondering what Amazon was going to do with their acquisition of MGM now has an idea of what’s in store. Along with the purchase of the famed movie studio came the rights to the James Bond catalogue, which is about to add a competition reality show. Action junkies and thrill seekers who want to simulate the idea of being a super spy just might have that chance now.

Sean Connery in the first Bond film, “Dr. No” MGM

The upcoming show, “007’s Road to a Million” has been in development for years, but will officially be entering production later in 2022. Casting has already begun with pairs of contestants competing for a prize of £1 million. If you’re American, that’s even better for considering that translates to roughly $1.3 million. Though in order to get that prize you’re going to have to push yourself physically and mentally just as Bond has had to across his many missions.

Most recent Bond film “No Time To Die”

Both Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson will be producing the series, as they have the Bond films. It seems as if the two are being a bit less tight-fisted on the license recently considering how this and other Bond projects are coming out after a decided dearth of content over the last decade. IO Interactive began working on a James Bond video game back in 2020, which would be the first title in the franchise since the terribly received “007 Legends” in 2012. The game was bad enough to seemingly make Broccoli and Wilson hesitant to expand the license outside of films for some time, but now we have a game and a Bond inspired reality competition series to boot.

Now we just have to wait for Amazon to bring back the other James Bond television show, 1991’s animated “James Bond Jr.” Which, frankly, is better than at least “Die Another Day” and “Quantum of Solace.”
