McDonald’s Brings Back Szechuan Sauce Again!

McDonald’s Szechuan sauce is back! But there are some strings attached. First of all, it’s going to be an in-app feature. So only those of you who’ve downloaded the app will be able to order it. And the second is that it’s a limited time only while supplies last kind of deal.

The first time Szechuan sauce released at McDonald’s, there was mania. They ran out almost immediately, and eBay users were selling them for exorbitant amounts of money. You can still get the ones listed from 2018 if you’re willing to spend about $20 a pop. I’m also pretty sure they’ve expired by now.

    eBay

The first time they released the sauce mentioned in fan favorite show “Rick and Morty“, they had to make excuses for having low supply.

“Nobody could have guessed that people were going to drive hundreds of miles to a location that some people were going to camp overnight. No one, no one expected this reaction. So, we could have done more but even then, it simply would not have been enough.”

Jano Cabrera, McDonald’s Senior Vice President of Corporate Relations

Hopefully now they’re making them by the bucket-full. And good luck on the App, I can’t stand it. It never connects fast enough, the code keeps refreshing so you can’t screenshot it when you know you’ll have poor connection, and it’s just overall a pain in the butt. But it does save money if you go there all the time, especially if you’re collecting Happy Meal toys.

    Stay weird my friends.

App users can expect to see a roll out on March 31st, 2022.
