Ben Stiller Debuts First Look at Apple TV+ Series “Severance”

Ben Stiller and Dan Erickson have a new Apple TV+ workplace series “Severance” on the way. The show wonders what would happen if you could completely sever your work life from your personal life. [Editor’s note: Stiller is directing!]

“Severance” stars Patricia Arquette, Adam Scott, John Turturro, Britt Lower, Zach Cherry, Dichen Lachman, Jen Tullock, Tramell Tillman, Michael Chernus, and Christopher Walken.

Employees of the fictional Lumon Industries opt to undergo a “voluntary” severance procedure. Though when is anything at work actually voluntary? The procedure will split their brains so their work memories and personal memories are completely separate. We’re sure many of us wish we could unburden ourselves of our work woes. The series looks like it will explore the unexpected costs of such extreme measures. Perhaps the participants should just participate in The Great Resignation instead?

The trailer’s eerie dystopian vibe suggests there’s much more to the mystery of the workplace than first meets the eye.

The official description is: Mark Scout (Adam Scott) leads a team at Lumon Industries, whose employees have undergone a severance procedure, which surgically divides their memories between their work and personal lives. This daring experiment in “work-life balance” is called into question as Mark finds himself at the center of an unraveling mystery that will force him to confront the true nature of his work… and of himself.

“Severance” premieres on Apple TV+ on February 18, 2022. The first two episodes will premiere on the 18th and will drop weekly from there. The series is nine episodes.
