Tim Curry is making a return to the Stream universe and this time, there’s much more of him.
Curry was in short order in the first film, but he’ll be playing a much bigger role in the sequel. The team has revealed the acting legend will be back in Stream 2.
Director Michael Leavy made it clear from the start that this was part of the plan.
“Tim Curry is someone who has inspired generations of horror fans and filmmakers alike,”
“From the beginning, we envisioned his character as part of a much larger story within the ‘Stream’ universe.”
Leavy said
According to a press release, Curry was just one piece of a larger puzzle when he debuted in the original film. Producer Jason Leavy echoed those sentiments. “Having the opportunity to work with Tim Curry was already surreal, but knowing where this story was headed made it even more special,” he said, noting that Curry’s original appearance “was designed to plant the seeds for something bigger.”

Of course, Curry isn’t the only familiar face back. Playing a big role again will be David Howard Thornton (Terrifier, Screamboat) who will reprise his role as Player 2, and Damian Maffei (The Strangers: Prey at Night). Also making a return is the original Art the Clown actor, Mike Giannelli, coming out of retirement for the film.
Stream 2‘s narrative comes from Impractical Jokers star Brian “Q” Quinn and longtime producer Joe Imburgio, with Leavy returning to direct.
The project is the next chapter for Fuzz on the Lens Productions, better known for Terrifier 2, Terrifier 3, Screamboat and the first Stream.
A Mix of Slasher Tropes and Practical Gore
The first Stream film mixed old-school slasher tropes and practical gore. It added modern-day commentary on technology and voyeurism. Hotel guests were trapped by killers. Their gruesome deaths were live-streamed for viewers’ bets and entertainment. The film is available for free on Tubi and Amazon Prime Video, as well as on DVD, Blu-ray, and other major platforms.
To say that Curry’s resume says something about itself is an understatement. The 80-year-old actor has worked in cult classics, such as The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Clue, and Congo. He even portrayed Pennywise in the TV series of Stephen King’s It. That remains one of horror’s longest-running performances.
Fuzz on the Lens Productions has yet to confirm a release date for Stream 2: Sudden Death. However casting and production details are expected soon.
