Russell Crowe Sets Ground Rules for Autograph Seekers Outside Paris Hotel

The Oscar-winning actor was seen outside his hotel in Paris, where a group had gathered to try and get his autograph and photo. He was in town for the French Open, what happened soon went viral.

Russell Crowe approached the autograph seekers gathered around the steps of the hotel, asking “Are you listening?” as he waved his arms. “Stay where you are, don’t fucking push in on me and I’ll come to you.” “Give everybody space,” he added. “As soon as somebody’s a dick, I’m going.”

In agreement, Crowe (who wore a navy blue polo shirt and slacks) began to sign Gladiator figurines quickly. When one fan pushed the limits and begged the star to sign it with the name “Maximus,” Crowe declined. Instead he moved onto the next fan.

    Tensions grew quickly

Videos online show that tensions grew quickly as the crowds gathered near the actor. The footage was taken from within the crowd. TMZ released the clip with a tone that was negative towards Crowe. He did not take kindly to this.

The verbal exchange escalated so high that Crowe made an appearance, taking to his X page to complain about clickbait from TMZ. “Everybody got their autograph and selfie, the passage to the hotel was kept free for guests, and I still got to the airport on time,” he wrote. “One man, no security. Handled. What’s your problem?” This text gained 51,000 likes by Tuesday morning.

    Used to controlling the crowds

This was not the first time a Hollywood star has gone viral for dealing with his own crowd control in Europe. In 2024, Anne Hathaway famously ran into a mêlée of overzealous fans in Italy, where she was seen politely explaining crowd safety in English.

The incident came at a time when Crowe was particularly in the public eye. He attended the French Open with his girlfriend, Britney Theriot, appearing noticeably slimmer in a navy suit. Crowe told The Joe Rogan Experience he had lost about 50 pounds after finishing his 2025 film Nuremberg, saying, “I was 126 kilos when I finished Nuremberg. I’m 100.9 now.”

For Crowe, the incident was something his fans already knew: all the security wasn’t necessary. He dealt with it himself, gave everyone their autograph and made his flight.
