Fox has officially renewed Fear Factor: House of Fear for a second season. Johnny Knoxville will return to host the competition series. This announcement comes just weeks after Season 1 wrapped up.
A reboot of the popular 2000s show that ran for seven seasons, Fear Factor: House of Fear features a group of strangers. They live together in a remote location. Facing mind-blowing stunts, harrowing challenges, and a twisted game of social strategy. Only one winner conquers all their fears. That person walks away with $200,000.
The viewership numbers made the renewal an easy call. The show’s debut episode delivered 16.5 million multiplatform viewers. It ranked in Adults 18-49 as broadcast’s number one debut. The show was also the number one new unscripted series of the season. Fox CEO Lachlan Murdoch even touted its success alongside scripted series.
Season 1 ended on a memorable note. It comes less than a month after Ethan Macmillan, a 20-year-old emergency dispatcher, won a $200,000 prize. The finale stunts included facing the fear of drowning and biting alligator gars. Then, the final two participated in a head-to-head race. This included leaping between speeding semi-trucks.

Network on Board
Fox Television Network President Michael Thorn made it clear the network is fully on board. He said the show “instantly established itself as a signature unscripted series for Fox,” adding that “Johnny Knoxville’s fearless, unpredictable energy makes him the perfect ringmaster,” and that the team is “already plotting new ways to raise the shock-and-awe quotient for Season 2.”
Endemol Shine North America CEO Sharon Levy was equally enthusiastic. She said, “Bringing an icon like Fear Factor back to life required a host who could match its legacy, and Johnny Knoxville has been the ultimate catalyst for this evolution. He didn’t just host Fear Factor: House of Fear; he became the heart of it.”
Levy also noted that earning the title of most-streamed unscripted series was “a massive win.” She added that for Season 2, the team is “already plotting how to push the social strategy and physical stunts to even more visceral, stomach-turning heights.”
The reimagined format builds on the internationally renowned Fear Factor. Fear Factory has 32 adaptations worldwide. The series is produced by Endemol Shine North America. Executive producers include Kevin Lee, Anthony Carbone, Lindsay Tuggle, Levy, Michael Heyerman, and Sean Loughlin.
Season 2 is expected to return in 2027. No premiere date has been confirmed yet.
