If the real world isn’t enough of a fever dream for you, Netflix is bringing back the dystopian hit “Black Mirror.” Series creator Charlie Brooker has confirmed the show has been greenlit for an 8th season by the streaming giant. This makes the series-turned-cultural phenomenon one of the platform’s longest-running shows.

“I can confirm that Black Mirror will return, just in time for reality to catch up with it,” Brooker said. “So, that’s exciting. That chunk of my brain has already been activated and is whirring away.”
Of course, plot details for the upcoming season are still firmly under wraps. However, Brooker did share a bit about how he is developing it.
“Well, what haven’t we done yet, and what tone am I looking for? It’s a useful thought experiment when approaching a new story,” he explaind. “Where does this track come on the album, and what musical direction are we going to go into?”
Season 7 of “Black Mirror” is currently nominated for several Golden Globe awards, including Best Television Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television. Previous season stars Rashida Jones and Paul Giamatti are also nominated in the limited series acting categories. Jones starred in the episode “Common People,” and Giamatti starred in “Eulogy.”
This early into development, there is no word on what guest stars we might see.
We’ll keep you posted on updates about season 8 of “Black Mirror” as the project develops.
