In case you forgot- because WE DID- Peacock’s “Twisted Metal” series got picked up for a second season. A trailer for the upcoming season has dropped, promising to deliver the kind of vehicular combat mayhem that you’d expect from the video game franchise of the same name. And now, we have a release date.

Anthony Carrigan as Calypso – “Twisted Metal” Season 2 Trailer – Peacock

This season could be well worth waiting for considering that it’s going to feature what many viewers thought they were going to get in season one; the actual Twisted Metal tournament. In case you forgot the plot of the games, (and who would blame you, they haven’t had a release in 13 years now) an enigmatic figure calling himself Calypso, hosts a vehicular combat competition, promising the winner that they will be granted any wish they want.

What the first season did, perhaps smartly so, is the kind of world building and character introductions that give this tournament a greater sense of high stakes. Now that we’ve spent time with the cast, watching them succeed or fail actually has some gravitas to it. That is, assuming the second season is as strong or stronger than the first. The trailer also gave us a teaser for one of the franchise’s most iconic characters, Axel, so based on that alone, it has our attention.

“Twisted Metal” Season 2 Trailer – Peacock

The cast includes Anthony Mackie as John, Stephanie Beatriz as quiet, and Anthony Carrigan as Calypso. New to the series will be Tiana Okoye as the character Dollface, who also happens to be the long lost sister of John. And of course, series mascot Sweet Tooth is still around and about, surely he won’t cause trouble for anybody, right?

“Twisted Metal” season 2 hits Peacock on July 31st, 2025. Check out the new video below:
