Matt Bomer “White Collar” Reboot Getting Shopped Around

One of the biggest streaming surprises in the last couple years has been the resurgence of “Suits.” The USA Network show received a surge in popularity thanks to being on Netflix and absolutely scoring with audiences. “Suits” wasn’t the only show from USA’s golden age of programming to be steered towards a revival though. Over the last several years “White Collar” has been in the shadows, waiting to pop back onto screens when the conditions are right. Well, looks like they’re finally right.

    “White Collar” – USA Network

Created by Jeff Eastin and starring Matt Bomer, “White Collar” ran on USA from 2009 to 2014. Across six seasons, the show told the story of criminal extraordinaire Neal Caffrey. After being caught, he’s offered a deal by the FBI to use his special skills to help apprehend white collar criminals. Bomer was joined by his FBI “partner” played by Tim Dekay, and by the late Willie Garson who played fellow con artist Mozzie. The show also starred Tiffani Thiessen and Marsha Thomason.

Efforts to reboot the show date back to at least 2020 when Eastin said he had plans with Bomer to bring the show back. Since then, efforts seemed to have stalled until last June when some of the stars revealed they had seen the pilot script. At the time, Eastin said the show would be called “White Collar Renaissance.” The plan was to bring the original cast back together while paying tribute to the departed Garson. ,“It’s a fantastic script and it answers all the questions that one would have if you watch the show,” Dekay said at the time.

    “White Collar” – USA Network

“White Collar” was originally on USA, but produced by a division of Fox, which is now owned by Disney. The potential plan was for the revival series to be on Hulu, but the streaming platform passed on it.

The show is currently being shopped around. It would make sense to wind up on Netflix alongside “Suits.” (Even though a reboot of “Suits” will premiere on NBC on February 23rd.)

We’re keeping an eye out on this one to see how things move forward. At this rate, every USA show is going to get a reboot. “Burn Notice” anyone?
