It’s been about 10 minutes since we’ve seen anything painfully meta. But now Taylor Lautner (“Twilight”) has entered the chat with the series “Taylor Lautner: Werewolf Hunter.” Currently in the works at Amazon MGM Studios.

“Werewolf Hunter” follows an alternative timeline in which Lautner drops off the map after the monumental success of the “Twilight” films. Leading fans and the media to speculate, only to discover that truth is stranger than fiction. Instead of the typical mental health break, Lautner joins a secret society of werewolf trackers who need his unique expertise.

So he pulls a Hannah Montana and lives a double life of an actor by day and a werewolf hunter by night. However, instead of getting the best of both worlds, he has to fight the irony of destroying the creatures that made him famous. Our hero will be tasked with saving the world while reviving his career and falling in love. Will he be able to slay all three quests?

“Werewolf Hunter,” was pitched to Amazon MGM by Tornante, the same studio behind the shows “BoJack Horseman” and Amazon’s “Undone.” Daisy Gardner (“Single Drunk Female”) is attached as creator, director, and showrunner. Lautner will executive produce the series along with starring in and directing it. Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett of Radio Silence are also set to direct and executive produce.

This early into production there is no set release window for “Taylor Lautner: Werewolf Hunter,” yet. We’ll keep you posted on updates about the series as it develops.
