We were heartbroken when actor Ray Stevenson suddenly passed away in 2023. From Titus Pullo in HBO’s hit “Rome,” Blackbeard in “Black Sails,” Scott Buxton in “RRR,” and Volstagg (one of Thor’s Brave Companions), he was kind of a legend. When he joined “Ahsoka,” fans were excited. He was yet another actor who voiced a character in an animated “Star Wars” series making the jump to live-action.
The role of Baylon Skoll was perfect for him. A quiet menace paired with mystery- who is this lightsaber welding teacher of Shin Hati (Ivanna Sakhno)? His sudden passing before the first season premeired left some big questions for season 2 of the series, which stars Rosario Dawson as the Jedi Ahsoka Tano. Would the character of Baylon return? Would he get recast? And if so, who would play him?
We know the answer, and it’s “Game of Thrones” alum Roy McCann.
You’d know him best as playing Sandor Clegan, aka The Hound. The hulking brother of The Mountain, we know McCann’s comfortable with a bladed weapon, looks pretty good in a gorget, and can do that whole teacher-student thing.
While Disney and Lucasfilm haven’t confirmed this casting news yet, THR claims it’s a done deal.
You can watch season 1 on Disney+ now. Season 2 is expected to start production sometime this year. We’ll let you know what we hear about this and other news.
