Krispy Kreme Teams with Pop-Tarts for Sugary Goodness

Some people eat doughnuts for breakfast. It’s not the healthiest choice but it hits the spot. Then there are those who eat Pop-Tarts for their first meal of the day. Once again, not the healthiest of choices but whatever floats your boat and blood sugar. But what if, and follow us on this, there was something that combined doughnuts and Pop-Tarts together into one treat? Well then you would have the Krispy Kreme x Pop-Tart event that is currently taking place for a limited time.

    Krispy Kreme

At the very least, this is one of those collaborations that actually makes sense. We’ve covered our fair share of odd foods, like ranch dressing flavored ice cream and a Doritos menu including alcoholic drinks. This isn’t in that realm of weird, there’s not a hell of a lot that separates a Pop-Tart from a doughnut anyway. That’s why Krispy Kreme is introducing three Pop-Tarts-inspired doughnuts that you can purchase from Krispy Kreme locations and select retailers.

    Krispy Kreme

They’ve got three classic flavors for you to indulge in. First, we’ve got your classic strawberry. The Pop-Tarts Frosted Strawberry Doughnut is an unglazed shell doughnut, filled with strawberry filling (obviously) and topped with some shortbread, icing, a strawberry drizzle and a strawberry Pop-Tart bite. We can debate whether putting the Pop-Tart bite on top was necessary, seems like putting a hat on a hat, but were not culinary specialists over here.

    Krispy Kreme

Not as classic of a flavor but still perfect for donuts is the Frosted Chocolatey Fudge Doughnut. This one is pretty basic in its execution. It’s a glazed doughnut with chocolate icing and topped with brownie batter flavored buttercreme. On top of all that are crushed bits of Frosted Chocolatey Fudge Pop-Tart Bites. See, that one makes more sense? If you’re going to put Pop-Tarts and doughnuts together, don’t put a small version of a Pop-Tart on it; crush it up and use it as sprinkles or something.

    Krispy Kreme

Then, finally, we have the Pop-Tarts Frosted Brown Sugar Cinnamon Doughnut. This is one of those classic flavors being brought to life with a brown sugar cinnamon cream cheese buttercreme. And then they have to go and put a hat on a hat again by sticking a Pop-Tart bite on top of it. It’s like an odd little beret that it’s wearing and doesn’t need to be. Sometimes you just get so close but then you over do it. You get so caught up in asking yourself if you can that you forget to ask if you should.

Find the Krispy Kreme x Pop-Tarts 6CT Specialty Assorted Doughnuts at many local Walmart, Kroger, Food Lion, Publix, Stater Brothers and more stores, as well as at your local Krispy Kreme locations.
