Did you think we were making it out of 2024 without more streamers purging content? We are sorry to burst anyone’s bubble and report that Paramount+ is removing several Nickelodeon titles from its library. The losses include favorites like “Doug,” “Blue’s Room,” and “Big Time Rush.”
The shows “My Life As A Teenage Robot,” “AwesomenessTV,” “Breadwinners,” “Game Shakers,” “House of Anubis,” “Let’s Just Play: Go Healthy Challenge,” “Welcome to the Wayne,” “Wonder Pets,” and “Zoofari” were also removed. Along with shows based on the DreamWorks Animation movies “Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness” and “The Penguins of Madagascar.”
Earlier this year Paramount+ removed “ALVINNN!!! and the Chipmunks,” “Face’s Music Party,” “Fanboy & Chum Chum,” “Ni Hao, Kai-Lin,” “Oobi,” “Sanjay & Craig,” “The Upside Down Show,” and “Tot Cop.”
Unlike the Paramount + purge in June 2023 which canceled/removed “Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies,” “Queen of the Universe,” “The Game,” and “Star Trek: Prodigy” (later revived by Netflix), it isn’t clear why these shows were taken down. The reason given back then was to take a tax write-off for the underperforming series. But as far as we can tell no explanation was given this time. Considering Paramount Global owns Nickelodeon a licensing issue wouldn’t make sense either.
This is also a nice reminder of why physical media is still so important.
We’ll keep you posted on updates about these removals as they become available.
