The holidays are stressful for most people, but especially delivery workers who have to get everyone their gifts on time. On December 22nd, Sgt. Shawn Robert was on a routine patrol at 2am in Lakeville, MA when he spotted something strange in the woods. When he investigated the sergeant found three large totes full of Amazon packages spread out several feet into the woods.
Robert put the totes onto a pickup truck and brought them back to the Lakeville Police Department, where they counted 80 packages. Of course, the officers began to investigate the discovery but it didn’t take long for the truth to reveal itself.
The next day, an Amazon driver stopped by the police department and confessed to leaving the packages there around 7 PM on December 21st, citing stress as the reason. At this time, police do not intend to press charges, and the employee plans to report the incident to their manager.
“I am proud of the way our Lakeville Police officers handled and investigated this matter,” says Chief Matthew Perkins “At this time, we are not seeking criminal charges and are considering this a human resources matter for Amazon.”
Lakeville Police have already contacted the local Amazon distribution center and returned the packages to them.
Let’s all take this as a reminder that you have no idea what someone else is going through and try to show each other an extra bit of kindness this holiday season.
