Thank the Lords of Kobol.
That reboot of Ronald D. Moore‘s “Battlestar Galactica” (which of course was a reboot of the classic 1970s series) from Sam Esmail is reportedly finally dead in the water. Or…space? Dead in space? Yeah, we’ll go with that.
Back in 2020, Esmail (“Mr. Robot“) announced his intentions to reboot one of the most successful reboots to date. Sure, some of his ideas sounded interesting, but there was something missing from his proposed series. According to the usual suspects at Variety, the show is no longer in development at Peacock. Now, this doesn’t mean it won’t magically end up somewhere else as something else, but for all intent and purposes, this version of “BSG” is out of range of the resurrection ship.

No word, however, on whether or not Simon Kinberg is still working on a “Battlestar” movie. We’re hoping that project goes the same way as Esmail’s. Nothing personal, but as one of our absolute favorite series out there, if it ever does get revisited, it needs to be by the right person(s).
We’ll let you know what we hear about this and other news. If you’re a big “BSG” fan, you should maybe think about checking out Creation Entertainment’s upcoming Salute to “Battlestar Galactica” Chicago convention.
