Mattel has shown us the full reveal of its Monster High Skullector, and this one is a monster. The latest Skullector is based on the Death-Dwelling supervillain Shorty from the popular horror movie Killer Klowns from Outer Space.
The new doll sports Shorty’s classic yellow shirt and orange pants with a daring green haircut. She even wears flirty earrings with one of the cotton candy blaster guns dangling from them. Though Shorty’s collar is similar to her original appearance, some of the design details have been replaced with Monster High skulls. All the better to match her popcorn kernel belt and scrunchie.

Shorty comes with red boxing gloves and a cotton candy cocoon. As well as shoes based on the film’s balloon animal characters. She even sports a cotton candy cocoon cocktail complete with a swirly straw that spells out her name.
The Mattel Creations Skullector Shorty launched on Friday, May 15, on the Mattel Creations website and Amazon.
The Skullector is a Mattel Creations exclusive doll line featuring collector dolls based on horror and fantasy movies. It’s covered a wide array of pop culture moments, from The Shining, Stephen King’s IT, Beetlejuice, Gremlins 2, and Annabelle. A recent Skullector tribute to a cult ’80s cinematic icon was based on The Lost Boys. Drawing inspiration from David and his gang of ass-kicking undead bikers.

Killer Klowns from Outer Space
Killer Klowns from Outer Space first hit theaters in 1988, and ever since, it has risen to become a cult classic among horror luminaries across the globe. Directed by the Chiodo Brothers, this film has unexpectedly become a merchandising juggernaut in recent years, boasting everything from collectibles to an official video game.
The brand’s momentum is showing no signs of slowing down. Ryan Gosling is reportedly attached to produce a remake of Killer Klowns from Outer Space for Amazon MGM Studios. The Chiodo Brothers are expected to be involved in some producing capacity. The project came into existence when Gosling’s production company signed a three-year first-look deal with Amazon MGM. No official confirmation has been made as of this writing.
Monster High certainly isn’t the first brand to make merchandise based on the horror comedy; there’s even a pinball table based on the film. But with a remake in the works, this may not be the last time Shorty graces store shelves.
