2 Big “Frasier” Alum Returning for Season 2 of Revival Series

When you think of the show “Frasier,” you don’t really think of it as a workplace comedy. Sure, Frasier has a job and spends a lot of time there, but the show is mostly remembered for the bickering with his brother Niles and bungled romantic relationships with women. That being said, Frasier did have a good number of co-workers who had fairly prominent roles on the show. Even though this current revival of “Frasier“ is far removed from his old workplace of radio station KACL, this apparently won’t stop some of his old cohorts from appearing in the upcoming second season.

This new iteration of “Frasier” has been fairly light on returning actors and characters so far. We did have Roz, played by Peri Gilpin show up at the end of season one. We also learned that we’d be seeing a lot more of her in season two. We also, of course, got to see the return of Lilith played by the amazing Bebe Neuwirth. Now we find out that two more characters and their respective actors are returning, with one of them being the infamous Bulldog Briscoe.

Fans of “Frasier” will know Bulldog as the one time sports guy for KACL before eventually being fired, disappearing from the show for a while, becoming a pizza guy, and then returning to work in the KACL basement. Played by Dan Butler, Bulldog was equal parts loveable and loath-able depending on his actions and what season you were watching. He would later develop a strong affection for Roz, which maybe they’ll reexplore in this upcoming season; anything is fair game at this point.

The other returning character is KACL’s food critic, Gil Chesterton played by Edward Hibbert. Gil never had the same amount of screen time as Bulldog but nevertheless made an impact in several episodes. His ogling Frasier’s time slot in the original season one led to a wonderfully funny episode, “Frasier Crane’s Day Off.” He also was part of a running joke about his sexuality being questionably closeted, which would be interesting to see how that plays today. It should be noted that Hibbert himself is openly gay, so maybe we’ll see Gil embrace his true self?

As a side-note, there was another casting decision that dropped a few days ago regarding Roz’s daughter Alice. She’ll be returning in season two being played by Kelsey Grammer‘s own daughter, Greer Grammer. Alice was constantly underused as a character and just seemed like a poor story decision that everyone had to live with once it happened. Reportedly she’ll be throwing a bit of a monkey wrench into Freddy’s relationship. Shenanigans will likely ensue, after all, it is “Frasier.”

We’ll provide more updates as the show continues its second season production but until then, we wish you a good day, and good mental health.
