Apple TV+ is expanding further into the sci-fi genre with its upcoming series “Murderbot,” starring Alexander Skarsgård (“The Northman”). This new show will be an adaptation of Martha Wells‘ Hugo and Nebula Award-winning book series, “The Murderbot Diaries.” The series is created by Academy Award-nominated Chris and Paul Weitz (“About a Boy”).

“Murderbot” will be an action-packed 10-episode series, about a self-hacking security android who is horrified by human emotion yet drawn to its vulnerable “clients.” Murderbot must hide its free will and complete a dangerous assignment when all it really wants is to be left alone to watch futuristic soap operas and figure out its place in the universe.
This series comes courtesy of Paramount Television Studios. The Weitz brothers will also write, direct, and produce under their Depth of Field banner, with Andrew Miano. David S. Goyer will be acting as both showrunner and executive producer for “Murderbot.” Skarsgård and Keith Levine will also be serving as executive producers, with Wells as a consulting producer.
This will be the second time Goyer and Apple TV+ have worked together. He has already worked as a showrunner and executive producer on the global hit, “Foundation,” which just aired its second season.
We’ll keep you posted on updates about “Murderbot” as they become available.
