Seattle Aquarium Partners With “Animal Crossing”

The Seattle Aquarium has given us a crossover we didn’t know we needed by teaming up with Nintendo‘s “Animal Crossing: New Horizons.” From now through New Year’s Eve, visitors to the aquarium will get to learn details about the exhibits from none other than Blathers! And no, you can not hold down the A button to make him speed up this time.

Anyone who has played the latest “Animal Crossing” game can agree that the best feature is the fully upgraded museum. The aquarium portion is beautifully done in four parts where the various species of fish reside. The Seattle Aquarium is committed to making this collaboration wonderful for everyone who attends. We are in awe over the effort that went into this project. The collaboration experience is included with an admission ticket to the aquarium.

Standees of “Animal Crossing: New Horizons” characters are littered throughout the aquarium. Isabelle is just past the ticket counter, greeting visitors near a display about local fish and plants. There’s also a photo opportunity complete with an aquarium-themed background with the game characters. As you explore the aquarium there is a scavenger hunt that can be accessed through smart phone.

Throughout the exhibits there are placards with Blathers explaining facts about the real-life counterparts to the fish you can catch in game. The feathered museum curator also periodically appears on wall-mounted LCD screens next to some specimens. Pascal the otter hangs out with his sea otter brethren and even Gulliver can be found sleeping on a rock. Timmy and Tommy are hanging out inside the gift shop with a free digital wallpaper, make sure to grab it!

There are rumors of additional themed activities that will happen throughout the promotion, but nothing has been confirmed yet. If you are interested in this collaboration, you can get tickets and learn more here. The special team up runs now through December 31st, 2023.
