An 80s action hero, a 90s pop star, and an Australian singer-turned-actress walk on to a plane. But seriously, Chuck Norris, Vanilla Ice, and Sophie Monk have joined the cast of the upcoming movie “Zombie Plane.”
The action-comedy tells the story of a secret government organization that recruits celebrities to be undercover agents. They soon need to band together to save humanity from an imminent zombie attack. Ice and Monk will play themselves, while Norris will portray Commander Chuck Norris. The man who mentors and trains Ice to become a deadly secret agent.
Given the premise, the movie will suposedly be littered with celebrity cameos. Topped off with a nostalgia-washed ’90s pop soundtrack, which of course includes Ice. The film was shot earlier this year in Australia, so there is no conflict with the current/recently resolved labor strikes in the entertainment industry.
“Zombie Plane,” is directed by Lav Bodnaruk and Michael Pier of the post-production and VFX house, Chop Shop Post. And is brought to us by the Australian production and distribution banner Radioactive alog with U.S. production company Entertainment Squad.
“Audiences can expect a wild ride,” producer and Radioactive managing director Jessica Butland said. “Vanilla Ice is in his element as secret agent and Chuck Norris having trained him is excellent and it just works.”
“Zombie Plane uses comedy, the zombie genre and ’90s nostalgia as a vehicle, to comment on pop-culture as much as it feeds it, creating unforgettable one-liners and situational comedy ‘to the extreme,’” added executive producer and Entertainment Squad founder Shaked Berenson.
There is no set release date for the project just yet. We’ll keep you posted on updates about “Zombie Plane,” as they become available. But if there isn’t a Zombie-themed song in the vein of “Ninja Rap” we will be sorely disappointed.
