Over the weekend during San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC), Disney+ had some surprises in store for fans of Camp Halfblood. “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” is a live-action series that will reintroduce the characters from Rick Riordan‘s novels all about Percy Jackson, aka Perseus, living in the modern world. Not only was the show’s keyart featured on one of the SDCC attendee bags for 2023, but three new character posters were revealed.

The cast for the show includes Walker Scobell as Percy, Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth, Aryan Simhadri as Grover, Megan Mullally as Mrs. Dodds, Virginia Kull as Sally Jackson (Percy’s mom), Timm Sharp as Gabe Ugliano (Percy’s stepfather), Jason Mantzoukas as Dionysius, Glynn Turman as Mr. Brunner, Adam Copeland as Ares, Suzanne Cryer as Echidna, Jessica Parker Kennedy as Medusa, Lance Reddick as Zeus, Lin-Manuel Miranda as Hermes, and Toby Stephens as Poseidon.

Riordan is VERY involved with the series, and has been nothing but excited and supportive of the project. This morning, he shared a very special video message from series star Walker Scobell, who plays Percy. Filming on season one officially wrapped back in February.
“Percy Jackson and the Olympians” is expected to hit Disney+ either sometime later this year, or early 2024. A new Percy book is on the horizon as well. We’ll let you know what we hear about this and other news.
