It looks like filming for season 1 of Disney+’s upcoming “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” has wrapped! The live-action series will reintroduce the characters from Rick Riordan‘s novels all about Percy Jackson, aka Perseus, living in the modern world.
Riordan is VERY involved with the series, and has been nothing but excited and supportive of the project. This morning, he shared a very special video message from series star Walker Scobell, who plays Percy. Apparently filming has officially wrapped!
The cast for the show includes Scobell as Percy, Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth, Aryan Simhadri as Grover, Megan Mullally as Mrs. Dodds, Virginia Kull as Sally Jackson (Percy’s mom), Timm Sharp as Gabe Ugliano (Percy’s stepfather), Jason Mantzoukas as Dionysius, Glynn Turman as Mr. Brunner, Adam Copeland as Ares, Suzanne Cryer as Echidna, Jessica Parker Kennedy as Medusa, Lance Reddick as Zeus, Lin-Manuel Miranda as Hermes, and Toby Stephens as Poseidon.
“Percy Jackson and the Olympians” is expected to hit Disney+ either sometime later this year, or early 2024. A new Percy book is on the horizon as well. We’ll let you know what we hear about this and other news.
