Horror Western “Organ Trail” Gets R Rating for Strong Violence

In 2022, Paramount Pictures announced a horror western film with the delightfully punny title, “Organ Trail.” The film centers around Abigale Archer, who is alone in a merciless Montana winter in 1870. If the harsh winter wasn’t enough to contend with, she also has to fight off a group of bloodthirsty bandits. All to get back her only remaining possession, her family’s horse.

Apparently, they weren’t playing around with how bloodthirsty these bandits are. “Organ Trail” has been given an R rating for “strong violence, language, and some sexual references.”

“Organ Trail” stars Mather Zickel (“Southbound”), Olivia Applegate (“Love and Death”), Clé Bennett (“The Man in the High Castle”), Zoé De Grand Maison (“Riverdale”), Nicholas Logan (“Dopesick”), Sam Trammell (“True Blood”), and Jessica Frances Dukes (“Ozark”).

The film is produced by David Codron and Michael Patrick Jann (“Daybreak”), who is also directing. With a script written by Meg Turner, who basically pitched the idea via Twitter in 2017. She made a post with a picture of a script with “‘Organ Trail Written by Meg Turner” written across it. Jann responded back to her saying he was “looking for a project in this arena.”

Now that it's out there, I can finally share a screenshot of how it started. https://t.co/qaE9QY5KVp pic.twitter.com/DMbkuBOoiF

Now six years and a pandemic later it seems we will finally get to see “Organ Trail” in all its blood-soaked glory. While there isn’t an official release date set just yet, the movie being rated hopeful means we will be seeing it sooner, rather than later.

We’ll keep you posted on updates about “Organ Trail” as they develop.
