The third season of The CW’s “Superman & Lois” is set to introduce a new iteration of the classic villain, Lex Luthor, played by Michael Cudlitz. The first look at Cudlitz as the character has been revealed. The image showing a shaved head and a full, scraggly beard – a departure from the clean-shaven look of the comics character and other live-action adaptations.

This Luthor is very different from Jon Cryer‘s version, who appeared in the Arrowverse before the Crisis on Infinite Earths events. In “Superman & Lois,” Lex Luthor is described as a “brutal psychopath who is well-known within the criminal underworld.” The teaser image shows him wearing a dark, plain-colored prison jumpsuit over a white t-shirt. The new look being a far cry from the expensive suits typically worn by Luthor in other adaptations.

Cudlitz expressed his excitement about joining the show’s cast and presenting his take on infamous Lex Luthor. “This whole experience so far has been amazing,” Cudlitz said. “From the collaboration with our showrunners Todd [Helbing] and Brent [Fletcher] to the incredibly warm welcome I received from Tyler [Hoechlin] and Elizabeth [Tulloch] and the entire cast and crew. I cannot wait to share with the fans how much fun we’ve been having. Personally, I’ve always felt Lex was just misunderstood.”
Fans Excited About New Portrayal of Lex Luthor
It remains to be seen when Cudlitz’s Lex Luthor will make his debut in season 3, but fans are eager to see how his portrayal will compare to other live-action versions of the iconic Superman villain. The specifics of his performance and the character’s place in the overarching story have yet to be revealed, but fans are already buzzing with anticipation for the season.

“Superman & Lois” season 3 premiered on March 14th. With the show’s popularity on the rise, it’s clear the Superman mythos remains as captivating as ever.
