“Ninja vs. Shark” Gets Bloody Grindhouse-Style Trailer

Do you like movies about ninjas, sharks, or fighting? How about all three mixed together?! Director Koichi Sakamoto (“Power Rangers Dino Force Brave”) may be flying too close to the sun with his latest film “Ninja vs. Shark.”

The movie takes place during the Edo period, in the remote village of Okitsu. Where an evil cult leader, Koushirou, uses ninjutsu to control sharks and forces them to attack local pearl divers. So his cult can steal the valuable pearls from their mangled corpses. Desperate for help, the village chief hires Kotaro Shiozaki, a guard at a nearby temple. But Kotaro soon finds his path blocked by another ninja Kikuma, and a gigantic shark that doesn’t seem like something from this world. Will Kotaro Shiozaki be able to defeat the cult and slay whatever forces control the shark?

While the well for low-budget ninja and shark films is seemingly bottomless. Sakamoto seems to be the first genius to say, “why don’t we put them together and make them fight?” The trailer clearly shows that “Ninja vs. Shark” will deliver exactly what it promises, a ninja fighting a shark in all the campy glory you’d expect from that premise. And we are here for it!

The movie will star Kohshu Hirano, Shun Nishime, Julia Nagano, Kanon Miyahara, and Yuichi Nakamura.

Currently, “Ninja vs. Shark” will hit theaters in Japan on April 14th, 2023. There is no word yet on a US release date.
