Rian Johnson’s “Poker Face” Peacock Series Gets Trailer

Rian Johnson (“Knives Out”) has a new series for Peacock, “Poker Face” has gotten its first trailer. Apparently, Johnson was so impressed with Natasha Lyonne’s work alongside Daniel Craig and Angela Lansbury in “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” she got her own show.

In “Poker Face,” Charlie Cale (Lyonne) has found her calling as a private detective, due to her uncanny ability to sniff out a lie. This human lie detector instantly knows when someone isn’t telling the truth, no matter how airtight their alibi may be. Using her innate gift she travels around the country in her ‘69 yellow Plymouth Barracuda. Where she, of course, constantly stumbles upon new and strange cases to solve.

The trailer showcases a 70s throwback style, reminiscent of the old hard-boiled detective shows. The dialog is punctuated with Lyonne’s signature sense of humor. Just in case anything was being taken too seriously.

Since this will be a mystery-of-the-week style show Lyonne will probably be the only character to appear in every episode. But that doesn’t mean she is the only star power “Poker Face” will have. So far guests include Adrian Brody, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Cherry Jones, Tim Meadows, Nick Nolte, Rhea Perlman, Ron Perlman, Jameela Jamil, Judith Light, Chloë Sevigny, Hong Chau, Lil Rey Howey, Stephanie Hsu, Tim Blake Nelson, Charles Melton, Coltan Ryan, Luis Guzmán, Ellen Barkin, Clea DuVall, Benjamin Bratt, S. Epatha Merkerson, Danielle MacDonald, Rowan Blanchard, Simon Helberg, Brandon Michael Hall, Reed Birney, Angel Desai, Audrey Corsa, Chelsea Frei, Dascha Polanco, Jasmine Aiyana Garvin, Leslie Silva, Megan Suri, Niall Cunningham, and Nicholas Cirillo.

Lyonne will also executive produce through her Animal Pictures, along with Maya Rudolph and Danielle Renfrew Behrens. Rian Johnson will executive produce via his T-Street production banner, along with writing and directing several episodes.

The first four episodes of “Poker Face” hits Peacock January 26th, followed by a new episode each Thursday. Check out the trailer below:
