Bryan Cranston Returns as Walter White from “Breaking Bad” (Again)

Actor Bryan Cranston is reprising his role as Walter White from AMC’s “Breaking Bad.” Before you get too excited about this, it’s only for a PopCorners’ Super Bowl ad. Snack makers Frito-Lay teased the spot back in December, by posting a silhouette of Walter White in his Heisenberg get-up.

As White is want to do, he’s standing in a desert holding a big blue bag of white cheddar PopCorners. It’s a nod to the “Blue Sky” version of methamphetamine sold on the show.

While the tease heavily implied Cranston would be in the ad, it wasn’t confirmed until yesterday. Cranston himself kinda sorta spilled the chips about it. The premise for the ad (and if anyone else will return) is currently a closely guarded secret. Considering how expensive Super Bowl ads are, PopCorners wants as many fans tuning in as possible.

This also isn’t Cranston’s first journey into the world of food. In 2019, he teamed up with former co-star Aaron Paul to create Dos Hombres, a mezcal brand. They even did a “never-ending tour” of bars across the country to promote the brand

“Breaking Bad” ran from 2008-2013, but that wasn’t necessarily the end of Walter White. Cranston reprised the role for cameos in 2019’s “El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie.” He also appeared in two episodes of “Better Call Saul” in 2022.

Super Bowl LVII will air February 12th, 2023 on FOX. Check out the first-look image for the PopCorners ad below:
