Jennifer Coolidge Chats Likelihood of “Legally Blonde 3” Return

Comedy icon Jennifer Coolidge, who is currently enjoying a personal Renaissance, may be returning for “Legally Blonde 3.” The official greenlight for the project was given back in May of 2020, though due to the ongoing pandemic, work on the film wasn’t able to start for some time. Mindy Kaling and Dan Goor are still fleshing out the script.

Reese Witherspoon will of course be returning as Elle Woods. Bruiser Woods will have to be recast so perhaps we’ll be seeing Bruiser II or III in action. Coolidge would be reprising her role as the advice-giving manicurist and confidante.

“I know nothing, I mean I don’t know if they wanted to surprise me or something, ’cause I hear about it a lot,” Coolidge said. “I heard that Mindy has this amazing version of our next round, but I haven’t seen it. I don’t have the call yet.”

“”[Coolidge] is just someone who all writers would kill to write for. She is so funny,” Kaling told Entertainment Tonight back in April. “She elevates any material and she is just like… She can just do a glance, it is just hilarious. And so as a writer, it’s the jackpot. Especially in that character, her character, Paulette, is so funny and their dynamic is so funny. It’s been really great. She [has] a very juicy story in this one. That’s all I can say, and by the way, Elle has a very juicy story. The two of them, seeing what they look like now after 20 years, is really fun.”

We’re hoping “Legally Blonde 3” could maybe hit theaters in 2023, which would be the 20th anniversary of when “Legally Blonde 2″ was released in theaters. The third installment was originally supposed to release in May 2022.
