Fast Food giant Taco Bell will be bringing back their classic Enchirito, for a limited time only. Taco Bell is no stranger to having a revolving door of menu items. For example, their nacho fries have come and gone several times. And the removal and return of their cult favorite, Mexican pizza, was so dramatic it became a full-on musical.
Well, Taco Bell is just leaning into and giving the fans what they are asking/singing for. Last month the fast food chain put it up for a vote on which discontinued menu item should come back, the Double Decker Taco or the Enchirito. Voting was only open to members of the free Taco Bell Rewards program but from September 27 until October 6th, they still received over 760,000 votes.
While people could vote once per day that is still a solid turnout for only being open to a select pool of fans. Taco Bell says at first the race was neck and neck but late last week a winner was crowned. The Enchirito won with a majority of 62% of votes compared to the Double Decker Taco’s 38%.
The Enchirito consists of a soft tortilla wrapped around seasoned beef, beans, and diced onions. Then is is slathered in red sauce and topped with melted cheddar cheese. This dish is almost as old as Taco Bell since it was launched 52 years in 1970 when the chain was only 8 years old. But the last time this meal was on the menu was almost a decade ago in 2013.
The Enchirito will be available on menus for a limited time from November 17 through November 30th at locations nationwide. We will keep you posted on this and any other Taco Bell menu switch up as they happen.
