If you had the chance to give your younger self some advice, what would you say? Would you focus on relationships? Work? School? A group of celebrated actors got together recently and did exactly that. Tom Hanks, Adam Driver, Robert De Niro, Adam Sandler, Shia LaBeouf, and Jamie Foxx all shared what they would want to tell their younger selves. Some of the advice is really wonderful and everyone should take note of what they say.

De Niro and Hanks seem to have a really good grasp on life. Considering they’re the more seasoned actors on this roundtable, this is unsurprising. Sure, it’s from two years ago, but good advice is never out of date.

“When things are going well, just be calm. Don’t think you’re on top of the world in a sense, you always got to be wary. Because I’ve seen it, I’ve seen people come, I’ve seen people go,” De Niro says. “You gotta be chill. You gotta take what’s good in your life and move forward cautiously and carefully. And thank God that you have that. It’s very important not to over extend yourself when you’ve got it, everyone is dispensable.”

“I wish I had known that ‘this too shall pass.’ You feel bad right now? You feel bad you feel angry?’ This too shall pass,” Hanks says. “You feel great? You feel like you know all the answers? This too shall pass… Time is your ally and if nothing else, just wait. Wait it out.”

The entire actors roundtable is definitely worth a watch.
