The Best Video Game-Inspired Slots for 2022

Top Video Game Slots in 2022

In 2022, gamers have no shortage of great distractions regardless of their preferred platform. Many top games/franchises have also made the leap to online casinos, with slot versions of top games. Here are some of the best, for your consideration.

    Resident Evil 6

One very long-running video game franchise that has many offshoot media creations is Resident Evil and there’s a slot version of the sixth game, created by Skywind. Horror fans have 5 reels and 25 paylines to play with, and a very high degree of volatility (RTP clocks in at 95.09%). In addition to items from the games, such as various types of weapons, major characters Leon, Chris, Jake, and Ada also feature on the reels. There are wilds too, standing in for other symbols to increase the chances of a winning result.

Scatters come in the form of the money plant, and if you get a two-high scatter on the central reel it becomes powered up for the next three spins. And should a stacked character roll into a reel that’s powered up their own unique bonus is activated. For Ada this involves half a dozen picks to illuminate a trio of lights, a multi-level bonus with higher multipliers the further you get. The boys all have six free spins, and Leon’s bonus comes with two to five sticky wilds. Jake, meanwhile, gets two to five random wilds, and Chris turns two reels completely wild.

High volatility and plenty of bonuses means there’s a lot of chance for dramatic action with this Resident Evil slot.

Finding the Best Places to Play

Great games, including the top video game-inspired slots on our list, are only half the battle in having a great online casino experience. It’s also crucial to find the best sites at which to play. With so many casinos vying for your attention it can be tricky sorting good from bad, but our link contains only top casino sites globally and is the perfect starting point when considering which casino is best for you. This is not only down to the gaming portfolio, though obviously this is important, but also how good the bonuses are for both newcomers and existing players, available banking methods, and a strong reputation for reliability.

Tomb Raider: Secret of the Sword

Probably the most famous woman in gaming, Lara Croft is the heroine of Tomb Raider: Secret of the Sword, which was developed by Microgaming. Given her franchise has spawned multiple films as well as art and cookery books, it’s no surprise Lara has her own slot. The action takes place on a 5×3 playing area, with 30 paylines, low volatility, and RTP (return to player) of 95.22%. Definitely one for fans of the older school (less gritty and more fun) Lara Croft of yesteryear, the symbols on the reels include Lara riding a motorbike and our heroine in an evening dress (complete with pistol, every girl’s favorite accessory). Another Lara symbol (her head) acts as the wild, and can stand in for almost any other symbol.

Any random spin can activate the Super Mode Wild mechanic, which gifts the player five free spins and random parts of the playing area turn wild (and stay that way for the duration of the free spins). Meanwhile, a trio of Excalibur Keys opens the door to 10 free spins with rolling reels, which see winning symbols removed and new ones slide in for a potential series of wins on one spin. Better yet, consecutive wins come with a rising multiplier (up to 5x). Getting passports across the entire middle row activates the Global Adventure, set in five different locations. Players have the choice from half a dozen artifacts in each location, picking for a prize, and then move on to the next exotic port of call. If you pick Hidden Treasure then you can nab every artifact in a location, or opt for cash, a 2x multiplier, or try the Shootout Bonus feature (picking a disc for a cash prize). However, the Global Adventure can be cut short if you hit two hidden traps.

The RTP is slightly below average but more than made up for with the fun and varied bonus features with this slot starring one of video games’ greatest heroines.

Street Fighter II: The World Warrior

One of the most iconic and enduring video games of all time is Street Fighter II, which led to one of the more disappointing game to film adaptations. NetEnt created the slot version with Street Fighter II: The World Warrior. This game is ideal not only for hardcore fans of the game but also for slots connoisseurs who like something a little bit different. The playing area is 5×5, and does not have any paylines. Instead, wins pay out according to cluster pays, with a win involving four or more symbols in a cluster (horizontally or vertically adjacent). The graphics are deliberately dated, as it uses the same graphics as the early 90s game. Speaking of which, players pick one of eight available characters to play as.

Should a Victory or Defeat symbol form part of a winning result damage is dealt to the player’s opponent. The Battle ends when one character has their health bar totally emptied. If your character gets to zero health then the Car Smash bonus ensues, with a 5-15x prize if you manage to destroy the car. If your enemy gets down to zero health then it’s time for Beat the Boss. This is a four-level bonus game with rising multipliers, with free spins lasting until you win or fail.

NetEnt’s Avalanche feature means that when a win happens the relevant symbols vanish and new ones come in, presenting the chance for multiple wins on a single spin. One difference between characters is the bonus received when their Wild Gauge is filled (which happens, gradually, when wins with high-paying symbols occur). The details vary but all Wild Gauge bonuses involve adding wilds.

Video games can earn themselves cult followings and the three games/franchises with their own slots here have proved they can be popular for literally decades on end.
