Olivia Wilde Served Custody Papers While on Stage at CinemaCon

While on stage at The Colosseum in Las Vegas during CinemaCon 2022, Olivia Wilde was given a manila envelope by a stranger. While presenting the trailer for “Don’t Worry Darling,” someone approached from the front row, and slid an envelope across the stage towards her.

Wilde asked if this was for her before grabbing and opening it. The original theory is that the envelope contained an unsolicited script from someone who snuck into CinemaCon. Even though the only markings on it read “personal and confidential.”

The envelope was since been confirmed to be custody documents served on behalf of “Ted Lasso” star Jason Sudeikis. Sudeikis and Wilde separated in late 2020. While they were engaged, they never got married. They have 2 children together.

A source told Variety that the “papers were drawn up to establish jurisdiction relating to the children of Ms. Wilde and Mr. Sudeikis.” The same source went on to say “Mr. Sudeikis had no prior knowledge of the time or place that the envelope would have been delivered as this would solely be up to the process service company involved and he would never condone her being served in such an inappropriate manner.”

Even with the shocking interruption, Wilde remained calm, and continued to talk with the audience about “Don’t Worry Darling.” But CinemaCon organizers have not been so calm since the event.

“We have never in the history of the convention had an incident where a delegate has approached the stage who was not authorized to be there. In light of this incident, we are reevaluating our security procedures to ensure the safety of all our attendees,” Mitch Neuhauser (Managing Director of CinemaCon) said. “We will act accordingly because it’s the right thing to do. We want to do the safe, proper thing.”
