Apple TV+ has released their trailer for the puppet revival series “Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock”! Jim Henson’s wondrous and musical Fraggles will return in a new series.

According to the Apple, “Gobo, Red, Boober, Mokey, Wembley, Uncle Travelling Matt – alongside new Fraggles and Doozers voiced by special guest stars Patti LaBelle, Cynthia Erivo, Daveed Diggs, Ed Helms, Kenan Thompson, as well as an appearance by Foo Fighters – kick off the new year by embarking on epic, hilarious adventures about the magic that happens when we celebrate and care for our interconnected world.”

Fear not old-school fans, the song featured in the trailer is one of the new songs. According to Gobo himself (John Tartaglia) the theme song will remain the classic “Down at Fraggle Rock”.

Just to clarify- the original, beloved Fraggle Rock theme is STILL the theme song for #FraggleRockBacktoTheRock

The song heard in the trailer is one of our awesome new songs for the series.

Don’t worry, Silly Creatures! We’re still gonna all “Dance Your Cares Away!” 👏 👏

The new series will have thirteen episodes, all debuting at once. You can already watch Apple Original shorts “Fraggle Rock: Rock On” on the streaming platform.

The original “Fraggle Rock” debuted in 1983, and ran for five seasons. It won the International Emmy Award for Children’s Television Series in it’s debut year. Original puppeteers Karen Prell and Dave Goelz are returning to their roles as Red and Boober respectively.

While there have been several spin-offs and attempted reboots since, this one feels most true to the spirit of the original. Though we’d be lying if we said we wouldn’t have been interested in one of the cancelled feature reboots which included music from The Scissor Sisters.

You can check out the new trailer here:

“Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock” premieres on Apple TV+ on January 21, 2022.
