“John Wick: Chapter 4” Delays Release to 2023

Sad news Wickans, “John Wick: Chapter 4” has shifted their release date nearly a year. Keanu Reeves fans will just have to sate themselves on “The Matrix Resurrections” in the interim. The film was originally set to come out on May 27, 2022. Lionsgate made the announcement yesterday. They didn’t cite an explicit reason for the move.

The “John Wick” franchise centers around Reeves playing a former hitman who comes out of retirement. The series has been incredibly successful, leading to a bevy of sequels. The starpower also continues to increase with each chapter. “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum” included Halle Berry, Anjelica Houston, and fellow “The Matrix” alum Laurence Fishburne.

No word on if this will impact “John Wick: Chapter 5,” which should be in pre-production. The two films were meant to be shot consecutively. The prequel television series, “The Continental,” is still moving forward with star Mel Gibson.

Reeves will next be heard as a voice in “DC League of Super Pets.” He also hasn’t ruled out appearing in a possible threequel to “Speed.” We can at least dream of that possibility while we wait for the next Wick chapters.

You can watch the announcement video below. If you look closely, you can see Wick occupies the number two spot on a bounty leaderboard. Perhaps giving us a hint at who to expect to show up in Chapter 4.

“John Wick: Chapter 4” will now premiere in theaters on March 24, 2023.
