Union Public Service Commission conducts UPSC exams every year for the candidates aspiring to join Civil Services in India. The IAS Exam demands a unique preparation strategy due to immense competition among lakhs of candidates. With the right preparation strategy and a great amount of hard work, there is a higher probability to clear the UPSC CSAT Exam. Therefore, it is important for the candidates to prepare the best strategy to crack the exam in one attempt. Candidates are advised to start the preparation at an early stage in order to enjoy advantages like completing the UPSC IAS Prelims Syllabus beforehand and getting sufficient time to attempt mock tests and do regular revisions to strengthen the preparation. Scroll through this page to get detailed preparation tips to ace UPSC IAS Exam in one attempt.

Familiarity with Exam Pattern and Syllabus

Once you have decided to appear for the UPSC exam, go through the complete CSAT Exam Pattern and Syllabus to gain information about the marking scheme, important topics, exam duration, maximum marks, and etc. If you know the UPSC Syllabus then you will be able to prepare the topics that are relevant for the exam and prioritize the topics as per their marks weightage mentioned in the exam pattern.

    Follow Right Books

Candidates who aspire to build a career in the Indian Civil Services should refer to the most recommended books for exam preparation. They should first build the basic concepts with the help of standard books like NCERT and then move ahead with the advanced-level books. While selecting the books, they should not forget to check the reviews and the ratings of other aspirants and experts. There are tons of books available both in print and online. If you select the right books and work hard during the preparation then there is a high probability of acing the exam. Be careful and wise while selecting the books for UPSC IAS Preparation because after you have selected the books and started the preparation from them, you will not be able to replace them with other books as it can create confusion on concepts.

Practice Mock Test and Previous Year Paper

Along with the UPSC CSAT Online Coaching study material, the candidates should also practice mock tests and previous year question papers regularly to assess their performance and preparation level. Practice more and more to enhance your question-solving speed, accuracy, and time management skills. Candidates are advised to attempt daily current affairs quizzes for revision and to gain more information from different sources. This will not only sharpen your preparation level but also be helpful in attempting the actual exam with ease and confidence.

Follow Newspaper and Current Affairs Magazine

Reading Newspapers and following news channels is one of the most important preparation tips for the UPSC Exam. The candidates should be aware of all the national and international news as all three rounds will cover most of the questions based on General Awareness and Current Affairs. You can refer to the newspaper both online platforms and offline stores. Maintain daily notes of the current affairs and revise them often to build a strong grip on this section.

    Maintain Notes and Revise Regularly

Regular Revision is one of the best strategies to retain already covered topics relevant to the exam and manage the vast UPSC Syllabus effectively. Since the syllabus is lengthy, it is not possible to remember every important concept without preparing proper notes.  While studying a topic, note down important concepts in the proper format and memorize them on a daily and weekly basis to avoid forgetting any important information on the examination day. Candidates will not be required to revise the entire book a few days before the exam as they can do revision from their notes.
