When it comes to comic book movie adaptations, it is clear that Marvel has the spotlight. Marvel Cinematic Universe released its first film, Iron Man, in 2008, and it grossed an impressive $585 million worldwide. Since then, Marvel has released highly-anticipated and successful comic book movie adaptations every year. Here are four of the best comic-to-movie adaptations that we’ve enjoyed in recent years.

    1. Avengers

The Avengers series is one of the most successful movie franchises of all time. The first Avengers movie was released by Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2012 and brought together multiple Marvel superheroes including Iron Man, Captain America, and the Incredible Hulk. This marks the first time in movie history where a group of superheroes was teamed together in one film. This was followed by Avengers: Age of Ultron, which featured some of Marvel’s most loved superheroes joining forces to protect the world against evil forces. Avengers: Endgame was released in 2019 and made an incredible $2.79 billion at the global box office according to cnbc.com. This earnt Avengers: Endgame the title of being the highest-grossing movie of all time. Marvel has also released a superhero game based on the comic characters featured in the Avengers movies. Marvel’s Avengers Beta was released earlier this month and was highly-anticipated by Marvel and comic book fans across the world.

    2. Black Panther

Black Panther is a fictional superhero that is featured in a series of comic strips published by Marvel. The comic was adapted into a movie and released by Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2018. The movie was a roaring success and grossed a colossal $1.3 billion globally, making it the 10th highest-earning movie at the box office. Cash lady research found that Black Panther is ranked as the world’s favorite superhero movie and was the top choice in 48 countries including the United States and Canada. Black Panther is also the first superhero film to receive a nomination for Best Picture at the Oscars.

    3. Deadpool

Deadpool was released in 2016, featuring Ryan Reynolds as a Special Forces operative who is kidnapped by an evil scientist before being tortured, mutilated, and turned into Dead Pool. The movie is based on the American comic strip created by Marvel. Dead Pool is one of the only superhero movies that has been Rated R. This means it appealed to an older audience and paved the way for movies like The Joker and Logan. Following this initial success, Deadpool 2 was released in 2018 and grossed an impressive $785 million at the box office.

    4. Spider-Man

Spider-Man is another extremely successful movie series produced by the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The movies are based on the character featured in Marvel comic books. The first spider-man comic book movie adaptation was released in 2002 when Toby McGuire starred as Peter Parker, aka spider-man. This was followed by Spider-Man 2 in 2004 and Spider-Man 3 in 2007. Several other comics-to-movie adaptations have been released over the years including The Amazing Spider-Man in 2012 and Spider-Man Homecoming in 2017.
