Sam Neill Teases Dr. Grant’s Return in “Jurassic World: Dominion”

For what ever reason this week, we were rewatching the “Jurassic Park” and “Jurassic World” films. Imagine our delight in seeing this morning’s tweet from Sam Neill, welcoming back an old friend.

If you’ll recall, Neill played Dr. Alan Grant in “Jurassic Park,” and again in “Jurassic Park III.”

In the upcoming third installment of the new dinosaur trilogy, “Jurassic World: Dominion,” Dr. Grant is making his return, as well as Laura Dern as Dr. Ellie Sadler, and Jeff Goldblum as Dr. Ian Malcolm.

Hold onto your hats- gettin' my old one back on this week , and facing off dinosaurs once again. Best yet .Excited and terrified- these things will kill ya. With @LauraDern @BryceDHoward @prattprattpratt #JeffGoldblum @colintrevorrow I'm obviously a little more …grizzled now.. pic.twitter.com/zYtG5uadB2

But look how great it is!

During SDCC At Home’s “Directors on Directing” panel hosted and produced by our friends over at Collider, “Jurassic World” director Colin Trevorrow spoke a bit about “Dominion,” and that they’re going old-school with practical dinosaurs:

“We’ve actually gone more practical with every Jurassic movie we’ve made since the first one, and we’ve made more animatronics in this one than we have in the previous two,” he said. “And the thing that I’ve found, especially in working in the past couple months, is that we finally reached a point where it’s possible to… digital extensions on animatronics will be able to match the texture and the level of fidelity that, on film, an animatronic is going to be able to bring. And you didn’t use to be able to really mix them. You could really see the seams. And so that part of it is very exciting for me.”

Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are both returning as well as Claire and Owen.

No word on if we might see Ariana Richards and Joseph Mazzello as Lex and Tim, John Hammond’s grandchildren, but, it looks promising.

I think it’s time to get back to work. What do you say gang?

“Jurassic World: Dominion” is set to roar into theaters on June 11th, 2021. The production (obviously) has just picked back up in New Zealand.

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
