Just in case you forgot- yes, we’re still getting a Disney+ tv show prequel series all about Gaston from the live-action “Beauty and the Beast” 2017 live-action film.

This means that yes, Luke Evans is on board to return as Gaston, and Josh Gad will also return as LeFou.

In a recent chat with Variety, newly minted EGOT status composer (and Disney legend) Alan Menken revealed the title for the show!

“I’m excited about the projects I’m doing. I’m working on ‘Disenchanted’ and a new ‘Beauty and the Beast’ prequel, ‘The Little Town.’”

If you know your “Beauty and the Beast” lyrics, then you’ll no doubt recognize the Gaston prequel title as the same opening lines from the first song in the animated film, “Little Town.” Written by the late great lyricist Howard Ashman, “Little Town” is the introduction of the main character, Belle, and her tiny quaint French country home.

    “Little town
    It’s a quiet village
    Every day
    Like the one before
    Little town
    Full of little people
    Waking up to say
    Bonjour bonjour
    Bonjour bonjour bonjour!”

So, maybe this gives us a little idea of how much more of Belle’s little town we’ll be seeing in this series. Possibly her arrival with Maurice? Or, even earlier in the story, with the first meeting of Gaston and LeFou?

We’ll let you know what else we hear about this upcoming series. Til then, you can watch the 2017 “Beauty and the Beast,” as well as the animated original, on Disney+.

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
